The balls of thread pierced into the fabric slowly and densely described the beauty and violence of this world, but the conflict coexisted silently.
Through CHANG’s artworks, her carefully stitched the shiny stories page after page, under the sweet and shining light, fairy princesses and reality, flowers and bullet holes, stars and scars, protection and threats, constantly infiltrate and shuttle between each other. The soft material contains hidden danger and sharpness, discussing hope, oppression and confrontation.
Utilizing vocabularies of different soft materials, signs and symbols aplenty across the work, some cute, some sharp. Sometimes the embroidery floss is left hanging casually, sometimes the numerous balls of thread knotted over again intentionally inverted, could they be hidden dangers? Or are they blossoms scattered like the night stars? With continuous poking, sewing, and embroidering, the sharp needle puncturing the fabric as if stitching amidst blood, sewing together the imagination and reality, the scar and hope.<!
